FOUNDER STORY
Saulyna Wells - Founder & Executive Director
As a child, I spent time in foster care before being adopted. I am incredibly grateful for the life and opportunities that eventually came my way, but I also understand what it feels like to grow up without stability. Many of the experiences that shape confidence, self worth, and identity can feel out of reach when your foundation is uncertain.
Growing up, I had friends who rode horses, competed in equestrian events, and came from families who owned horses. It always felt like a world I admired from the outside. Not because I lacked the interest, but because I lacked the resources, the exposure, and the belief that it could ever be possible for me.
Years later, as an adult, I found my way back to horses and quickly realized their impact went far beyond riding. Horses gave me peace, confidence, connection, and a sense of stability during difficult seasons of life. They taught me patience, trust, and resilience. Looking back, I often wonder how different my journey may have been if I had experienced that connection earlier in life.
That question became the foundation of Stable Roots.
I created Stable Roots Foundation to help youth in foster and kinship placements access the same healing, confidence, and connection that horses gave me. Through equine experiences, we aim to create opportunities for young people to feel grounded, empowered, and supported in ways they may have never imagined possible.
At Stable Roots, we believe in second chances. For youth searching for stability, for horses finding purpose again, and for the communities that make healing possible.
Because every child deserves the chance to build lasting roots.
THE FUTURE
Our Shared Vision
We envision a future where foster youth have access to the healing, confidence, and connection that equine experiences can provide.
At Stable Roots, we believe in creating opportunities that build lasting roots through trust, growth, and emotional resilience. By partnering with local barns, trainers, and equine programs, we aim to make these experiences accessible to youth who may not otherwise have the chance.
Our vision extends beyond the children we serve. We believe in second chances for both youth and horses, creating meaningful partnerships that support rehabilitation, purpose, and healing on both sides of the lead rope.
Through community, compassion, and connection, we hope to build a network of support that grows far beyond Arizona and
creates lasting impact for generations to come.
